2. How to change the password

UserID and initial-password are sent you after the completion of your SSL-VPN application.

Please change the initial-password as soon as you received it.

3. How to login to SSL-VPN of J-PARC

3.1 Start your browser, and access to the certification site.

URL for SSL-VPN of J-PARC connection ( Accessible from JLAN, JAEA-LAN and KEK-LAN. )

3.2 Input your "User ID" and click the "Next" button.

(If the site is displayed in Japanese, operate "Change to en" shown as the below example window.)

3.3 Input your password, and click the "Login" button.

3.4 Choose "win8.1-or-later".


3.5 The "Loading Components.." windows is displayed, and the Compliance check of your PC will be started.


Due to the end of ActiveX and Java support on many browsers, an alternate solution is provided called Pulse Secure Application Launcher (PSAL).

PSAL is a feature provided on behalf of Java in compliance checking and works with Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome.

* IE is compliance checked in ActiveX as usual.

For a new user, launching the Pulse client for the first time, it involves following steps:

  1. The browser will show a warning message as shown in the figure below. Select Remember my choice for all links of this type, and click Launch Application.

    After the instruction 1, if Security Warning is displayed, check the box of <Save Settings> and then click the <Yes> button.
     


  3. When the Application Launcher installation screen is displayed, install the Application according to the instructions of the installer.

  5. In the warning message box that appears, click Yes to allow Pulse Secure to contact the server. If you do not want this prompt to appear in future, click Always.

  7. Pulse Application Launcher installs setup client module. The Pulse Application Launcher installs setup client module.

  9. In the warning message box that appears, click Yes to download, install and/or execute software from the server.

    Note: For the security reasons, if the user does not respond to the above mentioned warning messages for

    more than two minutes, the following error message will be displayed. In such situation, user has to click

    the Start button again to launch the Pulse Secure client.



  11. Windows starts downloading the Pulse Secure software

  13. For the prompts that appear next, select the options appropriately and complete the installation process.
    The Pulse Application Launcher and Pulse Secure Setup Client will be shown in the installed programs list.

    If the system detected concerns on your PC, this window will be displayed, go to "5. Compliance check".

    3.6 If the client-host checking procedure is completed, you can see the "Welcome to the Junos Pulse Secure Access Service." window.

    Click the "Start" button, your PC will be connected to JLAN via SSL-VPN.

    When the first log_in and update, Junos Pulse downloading and installing takes about 3minutes.
    After first log_in, Junos Pulse has been installed on the PC and automatically performed when SSL-VPN use.

    4. How to logout

    To logout, there are two methods as follws;

    • On the browser
    • From the "Pulse Secure Client" window

    4.1 On the browser

    Select the "Welcome to the Junos Pulse Secure Access Service." window, and click the "Sign Out" button.

    4.2 From the "Pulse Secure Client" window

    Logout from "Pulse Secure Client" window if you closed the "Welcome to the Secure Access SSL VPN .." window.

    Click the "Pulse Secure Client" icon in task-tray with right mouse button, and choose "Disconnect".

     

    5. Compliance check

    When you use your PC to connect to JLAN with SSL-VPN, your PC should be passed the compliance check executed by the VPN-system.

    The check-list of the compliance check is the following;

    5.1 OS, Web-browsers

    • Visit here.
    • OS should be updated to the latest.
    • Applications should be installed most recent version.

    5.2 Anti-virus software

    • Install anti-virus software listed in"Supported anti-virus softwares" to your PC.
    • The pattern file in your PC for the anti-virus software should be updated in 7 days.
    • Real time protection is effective.

    6. The length of time-out

    • If your client PC does not transmit network packet to the VPN-system for 1 hour, the VPN connection will be interrupted automatically.
    • The maximum session time of the VPN connection is 24 hours.
